MEET OUR RECREATIONAL THERAPY STAFF

Lilly Biggins
Recreational Therapist
I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy with distinction, along with a minor in Kinesiology. During my time at IU, I completed my internship at IU Health in the Behavioral Health Unit, where I gained hands-on experience providing therapeutic recreation services to individuals with a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and psychosis-related conditions such as schizophrenia. I also worked with community-based organizations such as Best Buddies, PALS Therapy (People and Animal Learning Services), and IU Adapted Physical Activity to promote inclusive, accessible recreation. I am now a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
Off the Clock: When I’m not working, I enjoy riding and spending time with my horse, JJ. I also love hiking, thrifting, crafting, attending concerts, and traveling to new places. These hobbies keep me grounded, creative, and connected to nature — all of which influence my work in positive ways.

Recreational Therapist

I am a Recreational Therapist passionate about creating meaningful, engaging experiences that support my clients' overall well-being and quality of life. I strive to help them become the best versions of themselves by pushing them out of their comfort zones, exploring new interests, and instilling confidence.
While I do not yet have the experience to lead therapeutic riding sessions, I do enjoy working with the horses through grooming, groundwork, and other equine-assisted learning activities. Some of my other favorite activities with clients include hiking and exploring nature, volunteer projects at Camp Red Cedar and the zoo, and group sessions with other therapists and client teams!!
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation from Southeast Missouri State University in 2018, followed by my Master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Southern Illinois University in 2020. I officially passed my therapeutic recreation exam in 2020 and started as an independent contractor in recreational therapy in September of 2020. In January of 2024, I started as Camp Red Cedar's first community-based recreational therapist.
Education: Throughout my education and early professional experiences, I have worked extensively with individuals with disabilities of all ages and in a variety of settings. My background includes an internship with Island Dolphin Care in Key Largo, Florida, focused on dolphin-assisted therapy. I've also interned with EPIC Pals in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, utilizing positive reinforcement and clicker training with dogs, supporting youth at risk, and serving as a mentor/assistant. These experiences have shaped my client-centered approach and reinforced my belief in the power and magic of recreation as a therapeutic tool.
Off the Clock: Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, exploring new towns and quirky roadside attractions, cooking, watching YouTube videos, and listening to podcasts. I also love spending time at home with my fiancé, caring for and cuddling our six animals.

Recreational Therapist
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of Toledo, where I also played collegiate volleyball for four years as a middle hitter. I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Community Care Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. I completed my internship with Pure Abilities in Fort Wayne, working with individuals of all ages and abilities. Through my education and experience, I developed a strong passion for supporting others, building meaningful connections, and serving diverse communities.
Off the Clock: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and young daughter, with another daughter joining our family in April 2026. We love being outdoors and especially enjoy going for walks together. I also enjoy challenging myself physically, whether at the gym or training outdoors for a 5K or 10K. In my downtime, you’ll often find me listening to audiobooks while walking or tackling chores at home.
Personal Theme Song: This was a tough choice! Throughout high school and into college, Overcomer by Mandisa was a song I leaned on heavily. More recently, I’ve connected deeply with Joy by KING & COUNTRY. With so many things in life trying to pull us in different directions, choosing joy has become incredibly important to me and is something I continue to work toward every day.
